HELPING YOUR CHILD READ

READING

Children often see people in their lives who value reading and books. Parents and care givers are the best role. Show your children that reading is very important by reading yourself.

PLAN TRIPS TO THE LIBRARY AND BOOKSTORES

The public library is a wonderful learning place to help explore and discover new books and can enjoy reading. Libraries often offers reading activities free of charge. Be sure to check out their story hours.

GIVE MAGAZINES AND BOOKS TO YOUR CHILD AS GIFT

Let children select books that interest them. Having reading materials at home will encourage children to read more often.

TURN OFF TELEVISION

Children need quite time without distractions. It will encourage children to read more and for longer time.

TALK TO CHILDREN WHAT THEY HAVE READ

Ask them to tell you about stories and their feelings about the books they have read. This will help children to enhance their creativity skills.

REMEMBER

READING IS IMPORTANT FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES. AS CHILDREN GROW OLDER, BOOKS CAN EXPAND THEIR VOCABULARY, THINKING SKILLS AND ALSO THEIR CREATIVITY. ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILDREN TO SPEND FREE TIME READING BOOK THEY ENJOY.
